OOPS OF THE DAY ~ JUNE ` (correction)

Things in the Bible not really in the Bible ...and a few surprises

Oops of the Day

Baptism is a memorial ritual like the Lord’s Supper.  It is to remember and declare that you were saved some time in the past.

Acts 20:7 – Acts 20:11  –  Exodus 20:8

Fact of the Day

No!  Only the sinless can enter heaven. God is sinless and cannot co-exist with sin.

It takes only one sin to be a sinner.  So, if one sin was on one person in heaven, it would not be heaven.

Only the sinless can go to heaven.  How is that possible? The apostle Peter said your sins are all forgiven at baptism.  The apostle Paul said he  was baptized to wash away his sins.

OOPS OF THE DAY ~ February 19

Things in the Bible not really in the Bible ...and a few surprises

Oops of the Day

When Christians die, they go to paradise and have to wait for heaven.

Luke 16:19-31  –  John 3:13  –  Luke 23:39-44  –  Ephesians 4:8; Revelation 22:2  –  Philippians 1:21-23  –  Revelation 10:6 (KJV)

Fact of the Day

No! Jesus’ parable of the beggar dying and going to Abraham was before he died and conquered Satan by coming back to life. The Mosaic Law was still in effect. The same with Jesus on the cross and telling the other crucified one he would be in paradise.

All references to where we go after Jesus’ death & resurrection refer to being with Christ

Jesus referred to paradise while he was still alive. But he descended to Paradise to bring captives up in his train, for the tree of life formerly in the paradise of Eden is now in heaven. Now, when the Christian dies, he is immediately with Jesus. Is Jesus not in heaven?

Since in our next life “time will be no more” it seems the Day of Judgment will be for each of us the day we die.

OOPS OF THE DAY ~ February 16

Things in the Bible not really in the Bible ...and a few surprises

Oops of the Day

In the story of THE PRODIGAL SON, the older brother had every right to not forgive his younger and lazy brother who finally came home, but only after spending all their father’s money.

Luke 15:11-14 – Luke 15:22-25 – Luke 30-32

Fact of the Day

No!   It was much more than that.  It was jealousy, greed, and a desire for all vs nothing.

  1. As the oldest son, he was going to inherit their father’s entire estate.  Remember when his father told him, “All I have is yours”? And the younger son did not ask for his half of the inheritance; he just said his part.  All younger children got only token gifts.
  2. Yet the older son resented one little party given to his brother.
  3. Their father thought his youngest son was dead; the older son acted as though he wished his brother was dead.
  4. And, by the way, the story teller did not say the younger son sinned with prostitutes.  That is what the older brother said.

OOPS OF THE DAY ~ January 18

Things in the Bible not really in the Bible...and a few surprises

Oops of the Day

Jesus gave the apostles the power to forgive sins and their decision will be accepted in heaven.

Matthew 16:19  –  Matthew 18:18  –  I Corinthians 9:5

Fact of the Day

No!  The term “shall be” or “will be” (future tense) was not in the original Greek. In the Greek, the term is really “shall have been” was “has been” (past tense).   In other words, whose ever sins they forgave were already forgiven in heaven.

Nothing can conquer you

0-BK 7-ShadowOfDeath-Cover-new-MediumJehovah God, in your Word, you tell me how to think and act. You tell me what to stay away from, what to change, what to do. You tell me what attitudes I should have.  I try, but sometimes Satan lures me away from you with his false promises of a better and happier life. He convinces me it’s okay to not do what you want because “God just doesn’t want me to be happy”. Then, when I give in, I realize he has lied to me again and I yearn to return to you. It is always astounding to me that you smile and welcome me back. You forgive even the sins I repeat over and over ~ always trying but always failing. Continuously, you forgive, wipe away my tears, and calm my soul. I do not understand such patience and love. All I know is that you are my God and I am yours.

Thank you for Calvary. Thank you for making it possible for them to arrest you, chain you, slap you, spit on you, beat you, scourge you, drive nails into your body. You let them do it to show the world how mean humanity had become when following Satan. You exposed Satan for what he was. Then you tricked him! Hallelujah, you tricked Satan!  He thought he’d killed God.  How egotistical. No one can kill God. You spent three days resting in Paradise, then came back to life. Was Satan ever mad. He had lost again. Oh, Wonder of wonders, my Lord. Nothing can conquer you. You are Lord of all lords, King of all kings, Conqueror of all conquerors. And I worship you.

0-BK 7-ShadowOfDeath-Cover-new-ThumbnailFollow the suspense as each person in Jesus’ life comes to terms with who they are, and who Jesus is.  Jesus accepts them as they are.  But can they accept themselves as they are?  More than that, can they accept Jesus as he is?  Both God and man?  Both Creator and created?  Both King and servant?  It is the story of doubts explained away, animosities melted away, misunderstandings cleared away.  It is your story and mine.  For deep within each of us is everyone who ever met and struggled with Jesus.  To BUY NOW, click a book cover or paste this:  http://bit.ly/TheyMetJesus1-8          https://inspirationsbykatheryn.wordpress.com/historical-novel-about-jesus/

Easter Every Sunday. You gave me your name

Supper-Front Cover-MediumHow can I praise you enough? Tell me and I will do it. You are in my thoughts and my dreams. You are my light in dark places. You are my warrior, my comforter, my hero.  You make promises and keep them. Even when things do not seem to go right, you are still keeping your promises. Even when a thousand years have passed, still you are keeping your promises.  Even when I have forgotten them, you never do. You are truth, integrity, fidelity. You are justice tempered with mercy. You are all I need and more than I can fully understand. You are above and beyond all things. Most of all, you are in my heart.

Please forgive me when I complain. Nothing happens to me without your permission. Help me see how my problems can only make me stronger if I let them. You did not set me in a lazy world where I do not have to lift a finger. You set me in a world with work to do, places to go, people to see. When I grow lazy, make me take a second breath and get out there and get back to work. It is the only way I can become spiritually strong.

Thank you, Lord, Jehovah, materialized in Jesus, magnified in his works, glorified in his words. You did everything possible to save me from hell.  You go after me when I wander away. You shine your light when I go into dark places. You love me even when I forget you.  I am unworthy. Yet you made me and I am yours. You protect me and give me strength. You give me your perfection just by believing all this. You even gave me your name.

You forgive me anyway

000-COVER-KINDLE-MediumI lift up my praises to you, God of the universe. They swirl around the universe and finally to your throne. You are all might and power and everything good. You are right and just tempered with unimaginable mercy.  You alone are God. I will serve you all the days of my life. Take me to your home soon, though. How much longer will it be? A year? Ten years? Twenty? How long? Take me to your home and I will serve you there forever.

When I fear what people can do to me, I allow them to harm me a thousand times over in my mind. I allow them to overcome me. Make me overcome my haunting fears. Help me love everyone instead, no matter how unloving, spiteful and hateful they are. Their lives must be so tortured. Make me overcoming all that in their lives with love because, as you said, “perfect love casts out fear.”

Ah, my Lord God, in deep gratitude that pierces my soul, I thank you for forgiving my many sins. I sin against you daily with bad attitudes that creep in. I am so ashamed and so weak. You forgive me anyway and I am not worthy of this. I fall at your feet and perpetually I whisper thank you.

Where I can see forever

Pearls Cover-Palms-300dpi-MediumI praise you in the morning when the sun rises with glowing promise. I praise you at noon when everyone stops the bustle of the morning for a moment of respite and taking a deep breath. I praise you in the evening when all becomes quiet again and I rest once more, cozy in my bed knowing you are holding me in your protective arms during the darkness of the night. You are always there. And you make me feel as though I am the only person in the world. You are my dawn, my bright and shining sun, my moonglow.

Yesterday I was talking with some people who said they had met four friends while shopping. I was with them and said, “No, there were five friends.” Why did I do that? What difference did it make? All it did was fluster the person telling about it and confuse the people listening. I got them completely off the subject of chance meetings of friends and into an argument of how many friends we met. Lord, help me not say anything when it doesn’t matter.

Thank you, Lord, for the beauty of my surroundings. Sometimes I am where there are mountains with white snow on top. Sometimes I am in valleys where green trees abound and there is grass to walk on and tickle my toes. Sometimes I am in a wide desert where I can see forever and the sky seems so much larger. How delightful you have made the earth with all its variations teasing and tantalizing me as I travel around your creation like skipping through verses of poetry.

Forgiveness lets the sun back in

Forgiveness Lets Sun Back In

Wednesday 3/7 ~ Even if they do it over and over?

The Scripture for today, March 7 (3/7), is Titus 3:7 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

00-1st Century Worship KINDLE-COVER-Thumbnail“So that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”

Being “just” means being correct, being law abiding, being perfect. No one is. Romans 3:23 says “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

But God wants you to live in his home so much, he was willing to overlook your sins and pretend you are correct, law-abiding, perfect ~ just. When you follow God and obey the few commands he has for you in the New Testament to become a Christian and stay a Christian, in his eyes, you become just.

Not only just, but God has put you in his last will and testament, what we call the New Testament. It contains his guidelines and what you will inherit. Your inheritance is explained in large part in Revelation ~ God’s heaven. And what an inheritance!

But, back to the overlooking part.  God does so to the same extent you overlook the sins others commit against you.  Yes, even if they do it over and over, just like you commit the same sins over and over and expect God to forgive you.  Now, where is your inheritance?
