As long as there is breath in me, I will praise you. As long as my heart beats, I will praise you. As long as I have a lucid mind, I will praise you. Though I may be beaten to deny you, in my weakness I will praise you. Though I may be imprisoned for not denying you, in my restraint I will praise you. Though they may threaten to kill me, at the moment of my death I will praise you. As long as it is within my being to do so, I will praise you, my Lord and my God.

Thank you for coming to our world as the kind of man you created. With that, you made my salvation possible. Salvation from Sin, Satan and Death and that hopeless prison of hell. You rescued me. You ransomed me. You bought me back. All to take me home with you to heaven. And everyone else who once turned against you. Thank you for forgiving me and all the others. Thank you for such astounding love that soars through the universe to my heart.

Ah, my Lord and my God. How beautiful and wonderful heaven will be, for you will be there. You are beautiful and wonderful in everything you think and do. You have the beauty of holiness, of purity, of ultimate love, mercy, goodness. I cannot comprehend anyone so perfect. When you were on earth, you revealed your perfection and people either used you or hated you. I would feel completely inadequate in your presence and want to hide were it not for your love. You smile and say, “Come, let us take a walk together. Tell me what is on your mind. Let’s work through things together, you and I.” You are overwhelming in your love, and so I worship you.

It is in the middle of summer and I do love summer so much, my God. I can do things outside in the sunshine I cannot do inside during the winter. I love a breeze flowing through my hair, picking dandelion bouquets, digging in the cool dirt to weed my garden, exploring a new walking path, wading in a creek, drinking water out of a well, swinging at the park, delighting in fireflies. I love tasting fresh fruit off a tree, then sitting under its shade. looking up at the sky through the green leaves and towering branches. Thank you for summertime.

Jehovah God, your very name is holy. Anywhere you dwell is holy. You are pure in every way. You are the Maker of all things, the constant companion of all things, and the lover of all. You are as high above all things as a speck of dust is to the uttermost and unknown boundaries of the cosmos. You have always been, you are, and will always be. Everything you made bows down to you ~ the mountains, the seas, the starry hosts. I bow at your feet and offer my crown to you. For I am nothing.

It was my face that should have been slapped that midnight, not yours. It was my back that should have been beaten raw that dark night, not yours. It was my blood that should have poured out of my body from those nails that day, not yours. It was my body that should have been pierced with cruel spikes that day, not yours. It was me that should have cried out in agony that day so long ago, not yours. You took my place so I would not have to suffer the punishment I deserved. I do not understand such love but I will thank you eternally.

It is August and I am happy

At first, when I learned about you, Lord God, my faith was a slight spark, barely visible. Later, my faith enlarged to the size of a pin light. Eventually, the light of my faith filled the little space around my body. Finally, the light of my faith filled a room and I rejoiced in it. But that was not all. I continued to study your Word and pray and share, and after all that, I realized the light of my faith was large enough to fill an arena. Now that I am growing old, my body is weaker and starting to shrivel, but not the light of my faith. Now, and now oh, Lord, my faith flares up high and wonderous beyond my wildest dreams, fills the world, and draws wanderers to it. All because of you, Lord, for the light of my faith comes from you.

It is August and hot outside. I don’t care. At least it isn’t snowing, Besides, in August I don’t have to worry about shoveling sunshine! In August I slow down a little and take life easy before the bustle of harvest and autumn. I can go out in the cool of the morning and pick strawberries or blueberries. I can wade in mud puddles after a summer shower. I can sit under a tree, look up through the branches, and imagine the top of the tree are reaching the canopy of the sky. I can even lie on my back on a blanket and imagine what kind of animals the clouds look like. Ah, yes, it is August and I am happy.

Was Jesus God? Why Evil?

The scripture for today, August 6 (8/6), is 1st Corinthians 8:6f as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

“Yet for us, there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord [Word], Jesus Christ, through whom all things came [by a Word] and through whom we live [by the Word]. But not everyone knows this. Some people are still so accustomed to idols.”

Was Jesus God? When you put your voice I an audio player, that doesn’t mean there are now two of you ~ one in your audio player and one in your body. You are still one.When God put his Words in a burning bush when speaking to Moses, that didn’t make God two ~ one in the bush and one in heaven. God was still one and chose to put his voice in something on earth. Jesus’ body was where God put his voice for 3-1/2 years in Palestine.

Just as you have a mind/will, a body, and a spirit, God does too. Some object and say, “Was Jesus praying to himself?” and “Why did he have to obey his Father?.” Your words do not just take off speaking on its own. Your mind, your will, tells your lips what to say. Your lips have to obey your mind, your will.

What about Jesus being God’s Son? You create your words, you beget your words. Your words are your brainchild. But your brainchild is still you.

I have written an entire enlightening book on this called WAS JESUS GOD? It is fascinating and wonderful. And, yes, Jesus was God.

WAS JESUS GOD? (WHY EVIL?) is a study of salvation and all that God went through to save. Save us to heaven? No, when we are drowning, we are not saved to the shore, we are saved from the water. I am nothing and you have loved me

Righteous God in heaven, so far and yet so near. You made the rules so I wouldn’t hurt myself. No matter how hard I wanted you to change them, you refused to change. You are forever the same. My rock. My foundation, My wall of salvation. My sword of truth. My rainbow of love. You have clothed me with your perfection because I can never attain it. You have clothed me with your purity; this I can never accomplish either. You have clothed me with your majesty to rule with you somewhere in your realm some day; I could never have the wisdom or patience you do. You have given the earth to me and all that is in it to rule with you. You have granted me a canopy of stars over my head and a rainbow of delight to encircle my heart. I love you, my God.

I lift up my thanks to you for offering yourself on the altar of the world. I could not give enough sacrifices for my sins in a lifetime. I was completely incapable of setting myself free from Satan. So, you, the Law Giver and Enforcer set up a loop-hole for me. You offered yourself as a sacrifice to appease Sin, Satan, and death to free my soul from their hold. How can I thank you? I fall at your feet in deep gratitude . For I am nothing and you have loved me.

Plans you can only imagine

The scripture for today, July 30 (7/30), is John 7:30 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

“At this, they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his time had not yet come.”

Even thoughm, during the last two years of his life, many people wanted to kill Jesus out of jealousy or fear or pure meanness, he was never afraid to keep teaching. Why? Because he knew he was life and truth and that he came forth from the Father of lights.

Do you feel fear sometimes because of things going on around you? Do we fear failure, or ruin, or false rumors, being stricken by Covid-19, or imprisonment, or your life? Remember, each life is in the heavenly Father’s hands.

So do not fear. Keep on keeping on. Hold fast. Stand firm. Do the right thing. Stand up for Jesus. And, when someday, your time does come, know that God has everything under control. He had big plans for Jesus at his death, and he has big plans for you. Plans you can only imagine.

I praise you, Jehovah, for you are Truth. Without truth, I would exist in confusion. I would not know what to do and what to stay away from. I would not know which was left and which was right, which was up and which was down. I would be left wondering and wandering through life. And you always keep your promises. You do no hold back from making them. They give me courage to keep going in this world that Satan wants to take over. They give me courage to stand strong. Satan may win some skirmishes with me along the way, but you forgive them as though they never happened. Satan loses. And in the end, you will win the war and I will be there with you. Great day of overcoming.

Oh, Jesus, thank you for coming! You kept your promise! Your Father’s Will brought you back to life. You kept your promise. Your Spirit explains it all in your Bible. You kept your promise. Now, I have the hope of heaven. No, not the hope; I have the promise of heaven. Oh, glorious day of being in the joy of your presence every day throughout eternity. Eternity is beyond my comprehension, but I know it will be so. I know it!

The scripture for today, July 27 (7/27), is Luke 7:27 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

“This is the one about whom it is written: ‘I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’ “

Jesus had a difficult task ahead of him. He had to prove to the world who he was while not scaring them to death with lightning strikes out of the sky or being a giant, or striking unbelievers dead. So, John the Baptizer announced his coming ahead of time, smoothing out the crooked roads in the hearts of people.

Do you know a dreamer who is struggling to accomplish something very important to them? Have they been in trying to overcome all the obstacles for weeks or months or years? Do you know anyone who is an obstacle for them? Can you say or do something to that obstacle in order to help smooth the way for the dreamer? Does this dreamer need something in their climb that you can provide for them? How about encouragement?

On the other hand, do you have a dream and sometimes slump into times of discouragement or depression? You can prepare “the way” for yourself. We all have our ups and downs. You know yourself better than anyone. You know best what you need to hear when you are down in order to lift you back up. Write yourself a letter. Tell yourself what you need to hear. Then put your letter away in preparation for one of your down times.

Life is hard. It is full of both promise and discouragement. Today, sit down and write yourself that letter. Then contact someone else for whom you can begin to prepare “the way.”

My Lord and God, steadily I climb toward you. You draw me like a magnet. You seem so much closer with each step. With one step I strive to have the kind of mercy for others you have for me. With another step I try to be more forgiving as you are to me. With yet another step I struggle to make time for others as you make time for me. Then there are the steps of purity, patience, pride and so many others that I dread to take because I am so weak to keep them in my life. Sometimes it is very hard to keep going. But you keep drawing me. Where I lack the strength, you reach out and say, “Take my hand. I will help you.” Keep drawing me toward you, Lord. Help me keep climbing and walking, climbing and walking, until at last I walk through the gates into heaven and see you as you are.

Thank you, God, for your Book divine, the Book wherein you pour out your heart to me. How you have agonized with all of us these past centuries and millenniums. At the same time, you have shared in the victory march of each Christian who overcomes an enemy of action, an enemy of attitude. You never stop tugging at my heart and mind. You keep saying through your Book, come to me. Come to me! I can give you strength. Thank you for being willing ~ no, anxious ~ to lift me up. How I adore and worship you.
