SURPRISE OF THE DAY ~ December 15

Things in the Bible not really in the Bible...and a few surprises

Christmas Surprise of the Day

The wise men from the East arrived to see the newborn baby Jesus sleeping in a hay trough the same night as the shepherds.

Matthew 2:7 – Matthew 2:9-11  –  Matthew 2:16

Christmas Fact of the Day

No!  Mary and Joseph had moved into a house by then.  It must have taken the wise men two years to get there.  Herod had all boy babies aged two and under in Bethlehem killed, according to the time when the wise men arrived and consulted with the mad king.

You’re smart.  Read the Bible for yourself.  Find out for yourself.

SURPRISE OF THE DAY ~ December 12

Things in the Bible not really in the Bible...and a few surprises

Christmas Surprise of the Day

The herald angels sang to the shepherds on the night Jesus was born.

Luke 2:8-13 –  Revelation  5:11-12

Christmas Fact of the Day

No!  Sorry to be a scrooge and all that.  But, just because a popular Christmas carol says, Hark! the Herald Angels Sing, doesn’t mean it’s so.  Luke said the angels declared, said, and announced, but they did not sing.

Check out Revelation with all its appearances in heaven.  The great multitude with their robes made white in the blood of the lamb sang, but the angels said.

What a privilege God has given humans.  We can sing!

You’re smart.  Read the Bible for yourself.  Find out for yourself.

SURPRISE OF THE DAY ~ November 24

Things in the Bible not really in the Bible...and a few surprises

Surprise of the Day

Events surrounding the birth of Jesus were foretold 800 years before he was born.

 Joel 2:28  –  Luke 2:35-38  – Matthew 2:10-12  – Luke 2:8-14

Fact of the Day

“Sons and daughters will prophecy” – SIMEON and ANNA prophecied about Jesus’ future when Mary and Joseph took him to the temple for a special ceremony on his 8th day.

“Old men will dream dreams” – the WISE MEN (MAGI) from the east were warned by God in a dream that Herod was looking for baby Jesus to kill him, so to return home a different way.

“Young men will see visions” – JOSEPH saw a vision of Gabriel telling him that Mary’s pregnancy was miraculous.  The night Jesus was born, the SHEPHERDS saw a vision of angels appearing in the sky and announcing Jesus’s birth.

Comfort and color and all in between

02-Noah-KindleMediumYou are my comfort, my shield, my protection. When in danger, you send your angels to stand between harm and me. When I weep, you wipe away my tears.  When I laugh, you laugh with me. When I am sick, you hold me in your arms.  When I walk bare footed, you place my feet on delicate sprigs blades of grass that tickle my toes. When I am tired, you carry me. Though you are far away in your realm, you are in my thoughts, my words, my heart.  You hear my thoughts spin, my words tumble out, and my heart beat.  I praise you for all that you are. I long to understand more.

I thank you for the rainbows.  You must love color. You made so many things with colors of rainbows in them ~ flowers, fruit, vegetables, gemstones, birds. I do love color, just like you do. When my eyes absorb all the color around me, they dance and flutter.  Color fills my heart with joy. You even made the foundations of heaven many-colored gemstones.  You have a red glow over your throne and an emerald green bow above that. I am so glad you love color too. Thank you and help me to not ever take it for granted.

He wouldn’t when grown either. One day, God told Noah water was going to come out of the sky, so he needed to build a boat.  It had never rained before and everyone made fun of him.  “Think & Do” at the end of each chapter.  Can be understood from age 3.  Hyphens in long words help early readers.  To BUY NOW, click a book cove or paste this:  https://bit.ly/ChildsNoah

The Son shall be called the Father

0000-BK 1-StarSong-Cover-new-MediumThe scripture for today, February 23 (2/23), is 1st John 2:23 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

“No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.”

This verse tells us the Son and Father are one. Isaiah 9:6 calls the child to be born both the Son and the Father and Mighty God. The Son gives birth to the Father; the Father gives birth to the Son. In other words, God is self-existent and one.

When you speak into a tape recorder and your voice then comes out of that machine for other people to hear, that doesn’t make you two.  You are still one; you have just chosen to put your voice in something where you can be heard by people away from you.  That tape recording is just another form of you. You can also put your voice and body in a movie. That doesn’t make two of you ~ one on the screen and one in your physical body. You are still one.

God is One, and yet he revealed a part of himself in a burning bush to Moses just like you revealed a part of yourself in the tape recorder or movie.  Does that mean there were two Gods ~ one in heaven and one in the bush?  No.  God can and has sometimes revealed himself in different ways. Remember how he walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden?

Some say, “If Jesus was God on earth, when he died, God was dead.”  No. That temporary body was dead, but God’s Spirit, God’s Soul, God’s being continued to live. Jesus, the Word of God, did not depend on a body to be alive.

Why would Jesus be called the Son of God, since he was not a son created in the literal way we have sons?  You have thoughts, and those thoughts have existed as long as you have.  But you still created those thoughts.  When your thoughts become hearable or seeable, people call that your “brainchild.”   In that same sense, Jesus was God’s “brainchild” ~ God’s thoughts in hearable and seeable form.

How was he the only begotten Son? God has only one Word ~ the Bible.  “In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God…All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made” (John 1:1-3).  When God spoke the world into existence, that was Jesus. Every time God spoke, that was Jesus.

Isaiah 9:6 says the Son shall be called Mighty God and Everlasting Father.  And so he was.  And so he is.

Go ahead and struggle with him as they did.  Laugh. Cry.  Do mental battle with him.  Emotional battle too.  Fight for your faith as they fought.  Pause to listen for what you’ve never heard before.  Then touch Jesus. This is the story of faith in the impossible.   Hope in the inconceivable.  Love for the invincible.  It is the dreams of youth, the desperations of infirmity, the hopes of age, and the song of eternity.  To BUY NOW, click a book cover or paste this:  https://bit.ly/3qMEUXd

Friday 3/9 ~ Open the door to the mystery and step inside

The scripture for today, March 9, is Ephesians 3:9f as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

07-SHADOW-ChildsCartoonSmall“To make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Ever wonder why God created the world? Here it is:  The “mystery”.  The” mystery” can be discovered by making a chart each time “mystery” appears in the Bible along with who understands it and who does not.

The “mystery” as expanded upon in this letter to the church in Ephesus, is Jesus paying the ransom for us sinners and setting us free from Satan.  It is complete and full forgiveness.

Who does God desire to explain this “mystery” to? Rulers and authorities in heavenly realms ~ angels, demons, and Satan. You see, angels don’t seem to get it, and Satan does not want anyone to be forgiven.

Satan spends a lot of time and energy convincing people good is bad and bad is good. He doesn’t want to be the only one going to hell. And he wants to prove he is stronger than God. But even when Satan is successful and we sin, God just negates it and forgives us. There is nothing that Satan can do that God cannot undo. That enrages Satan.

Oh, the grand “mystery”.  It is God’s love demonstrated by the death and resurrection of his Son so we can be set free. This “mystery” is revealed through the church who has believed it. Open the door to the “mystery” and step inside. God is there waiting for you.  And he is smiling.

Scripture for Monday, October 2 (10/2)

The scripture for today, October 2 (10/2), is Daniel 10:2ff as found in the Old Testament of the Bible:

0-REV-Cover-No Logo-KINDLE-medium” ‘At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks…On the twenty-fourth day of the first month…I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen with a belt of the finest gold around his waist. His body was like chrysolite, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude….Then he continued, ‘Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me because I was detained there with the king of Persia.’ “

The description of the speaker indicates he is an angel, possibly Gabriel. Michael is another known angel. In Daniel 12:1 he is called “Michael, the great prince who protects your people.” Jude 9 refers to Michael as an archangel who disputed with Satan over the body of Moses.

Revelation 12:7-9 says, “And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down ~ that ancient serpent called the devil or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth and his angels with him.”

Now, let us look back at Daniel 10. Daniel prayed for 21 days. The un-named angel (Gabriel?) appeared to him on the 24th day and said Daniel’s prayers had been heard the first day, but God’s angel could not break away to help because of fighting Satan’s angels.

Now look at Ephesians 6:12, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Does our persistence in prayer give strength to the angels?  Something to think about….

Scripture for Wednesday, July 12 (7/12)

0-BK 5-FloodGates-Cover-Medium-NewThe scripture for today, July 12 (7/12), is Revelation 7:12 in the New Testament of the Bible:

“Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God forever and ever. Amen!”

How often do we praise God? Praise is more than thanking Him. Praise refers to God’s attributes. Let’s see what these words mean in the original Greek language of the New Testament:

Glory: magnificently beautiful
Wisdom: great understanding
Thanks: bestowed favor
Honor: great weight and power

God deserves all this from us. Some people think God is ugly, He doesn’t understand them, He is against them, and is for weaklings. Some even hate God and are repulsed by the idea of worshipping him. They just do not know God.

Today, will you help someone know God?

Scripture for Saturday, January 14 (1/14)

The scripture for today, January 14, is Hebrews 1:14 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

Letters-of-Apostles2-Cover-Kindle“Are not all angels ministering spirits, sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”

Have you ever wondered if the Bible really mentions guardian angels? Well, here it is. But the angels do not minister to everyone ~ just to the saved who will inherit salvation.

As much as they minister to us, however, we are not to worship them and we are not to pray to them. For awhile, it was popular to collect pictures and statues of angels. Some people were saying there is no God, but there are guardian angels. Where did they think angels come from? We are not to adore, worship or pray to angels (Revelation 19:10; 22:9). We are just to be grateful for them.

Let us thank God that he loves us enough to send the angels to minister to us until we reach the safety of his home, heaven.
