SURPRISE OF THE DAY ~ August 20

Things in the Bible not really in the Bible …and a few surprises

Surprise of the Day

During the early cenuries of mankind, they lived often to be 800 or 900 years of age.

Then God changed all that.  He said eventually, the average age of  man would be reduced to 120 years.

Genesis 6:3

Genesis 5 – Genesis 10-11 – Genesis 25:7 – Genesis 35:28 – Genesis 47:28 – Genesis 50:26

Fact of the Day

Why?  How?  Perhaps, if we had a constant cloud covering like Venus – a thick ozone layer – before the flood, UV rays would not be able to get through as easily. After the clouds were broken up for the first rain, the ozone layer would not be as strong. Whatever the reason, what God declared happened:

Noah lived to be 950.  Now, notice how the ages of people born after the flood gradually declined beginning with Noah’s son Shem who lived mostly after the flood.

  • Shem lived to be 600
  • Arpachshad lived to be 438
  • Shelah lived to be 433
  • Eber lived to be 464
  • Peleg lived to be 468
  • Reu lived to be 239
  • Serug lived to be 230
  • Nahor lived to be 207
  • Terah lived to be 205
  • Abraham lived to be 175
  • Isaac lived to be 180
  • Jacob lived to be 147
  • Joseph  lived to be 110
