OOPS OF THE DAY ~ August 28

Things in the Bible not really in the Bible …and a few surprises

Oops of the Day

The Israelite slaves escaped Egypt with a few necessities like tents, blankets, cooking pots, axes, and the clothes on their backs.  And a few donations from neighbors to get rid of them.

Numbers 7:13ff

Genesis 15:16  –  Genesis 47:28  –  Genesis 45:10  –  Genesis 46:28-34  –  Genesis 47:1-27  –  Genesis 50:8 & 22-23  – Exodus 8:22  –  Exodus 9:26  –   Deuteronomy 34:7

Fact of the Day

No!  Joseph lived to see 3 generations.   Remember, great grandfather Israel lived to be 147 and God had told Abraham they would escape during the fourth generation.

Pharaoh not only gave them Goshen (the best land of Egypt) to live in, but Joseph probably built a house (estate) for each brother and his father and occasionally gave them gifts.

After the tabernacle was erected in the wilderness, each tribe donated…
-1 silver bowl weighing 3-1/4 pounds of silver which would be worth $635 USD each in 2025
-1 fire pan weighing 4 ounces of gold which would be worth $12,200 USD each in 2025

They do not seem to have come from donations from the Egyptians (for back pay?) when they left because they were ALL ALIKE. Perhaps they had been gifts from brother Joseph since he likely gave his father and brothers all the same gifs..

Perhaps they treasured those special gifts from Joseph, so saved & protected them. Where ever those gold and silver dishes came from, they were ALL ALIKE.

By the way, the total value of all the donations (minus the animals) would be
-$7620 USD total value of silver in 2025
-$146,400 USD total value in gold in 2025

$154,020 USD TOTAL VALUE IN 2025
