Seek peace. Deep peace.

The scripture for today, May 5 (5/5), is Micah 5:5a as found in the Old Testament of the Bible:

Clouds in blue sky“And he will be their peace.”

The little book of Micah was written during a time when his country was full of prosperity. But it was also full of abused power. The lower on the social scale, the more the people suffered at the hands of the powerful few.

In the midst of warning the social elite, Micah offers comfort to their victims. You may be going through economic distress, such as losing your job or losing your home. You may be going through social distress, such as being passed up for a promotion or losing friends because of your moral code.

Seek peace. Deep peace.

Sometimes, it is only possible to reveal powerful abusers by revealing their victims to the world. Sometimes our job is to just survive so that a future generation can find justice and acceptance. Or sometimes, we must lose everything so that we can quit worrying about this world and look forward to the next.

Seek peace. Deep peace.

So, when you feel left behind with nothing, look up! God is still on his throne. God still holds out his arms. God still wipes away tears. Possibly it is at such times that you can feel God’s love most warmly and God’s peace most deeply. Look! Look through your grief.  God is smiling at you.

CHRISTIANITY OR ISLAM: THE CONTRAST. Instead of relying on rumors, quotes from the Qu’ran and New Testament (Injil) of the Bible cover the same topics for comparison purposes. THESE QUOTES ARE FROM SHARIA LAW. Many Muslims and Non-Muslims do not realize these things are in the Qur’an. *Do Christians really claim God had to have a wife in order to have a son? *Do Christians really claim there are three Gods? *Was the Bible really corrupted? *Is the God of the Muslims the same as the God of the Christians?  Take the challenge and find out for yourself. Scripture for Friday, August 25 (8/25)

The scripture for today, August 25 (8/25), is John 8:25 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

0-REV-Cover-No Logo-KINDLE-medium” ‘Who are you?’ they asked. ‘Just what I have been claiming all along,’ Jesus replied.”

There are some things in the Bible we read over and over and never see the point. Perhaps we have been blinded by well-meaning religious leaders or family or friends who tell us over and over, “It doesn’t mean what it says.”

How many times does God have to tell us something in the Bible before we believe it? Once? A dozen times? A hundred times? Think about passages people tell you don’t mean what they say.  Look them up and re-read them.

These are the words of the God of the universe. Do we prefer that God fit our mold, or we fit God’s mold?

Scripture for Friday, April 14 (4/14)

The scripture for today, April 14, is Esther 4:14b as found in the Old Testament of the Bible:

00-cover-kindle-medium-new“And who knows but that you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

Today’s scripture is about a reluctant young lady who won a beauty contest and was chosen to be the queen of Persia. Time has passed, and now a command had just gone out to kill all Jews. Queen Esther was a Jewess but had not told anyone at the royal court. She could continue to hide her nationality and let all her people die, or she could intervene with the king. She was the only Jew the king would have listened to. So she took the chance that she, too, would be killed, and spoke on behalf of her people. They were saved.

There are always situations in life in which you are the only one who can accomplish something very needed. Perhaps you are the only adult standing near a strange child who is about to run out into a busy road. Perhaps you are tall and a short person needs to reach something at the store. Perhaps you know a particular language and others around you need you to explain something to them. Perhaps someone called a wrong number on the telephone and reached you instead.

As we go through life, there are situations in which you are the only one who can handle them. Do you? Do you watch for those situations, or do you walk around in your own little world?

Listen! It’s the silent cries of people only you can help. Do you hear them?

The scripture for today, December 16, is Romans 12:16 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

0-COVER---Star-Song---flat“Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.”

Who do we associate with? Just people who are like us?

Do we consider people richer than us as greedy, uncaring and uppity? And people poorer than us as lazy, users and lowlifes?

Do we consider people smarter than us as having their heads in the clouds? And people duller than us as incapable of understanding anything important?

Do we consider people stronger than us as egotistical show-offs? And people weaker than us as not worthy of notice?

How this hurts our Savior who died for everyone. We are all sinners. We all need the same saving grace.

Let us live in harmony with all. Let us make everyone ~ both those “above” us and “below” us ~ feel the love of God through us. And equal.
