Fact of the Day 

No!  They added to them.  Why?  Because it gave them power and pleasure.  They liked the way each god was “worshiped” and calling it a religion made their acrivities “acceptable”.  Here they are alphabetically:

Oops of the Day

There are some people in the world who are so pure and good, they are sinless. Plus, of course, the prophets and apostles were sinless.

I Peter 2:22  –  Hebrews 4:15  –  II Corinthians 5:21 –  Romans 3:23 – Ecclesiastes 7:20  –  I John 1:8

Fact of the Day 

No!  Several Bible verses state Jesus was sinlessness  ~

  • “He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth”
  • “He wastempted in every point as we are, yet without sin”
  • “He who knew no sin was made to be sin for us.” 

And the rest of the world?

  • “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
  • “Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins”.  
  • “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us”.  

Jesus was the only one who never sinned.  Never.

Oops of the Day

It took just a minor miracle for the Israelites to cross the Jordan River and enter Canaan as conquerors compared with 40 years earlier when they had crossed the Red Sea to leave Egypt as slaves.  Further, it took more time and energy for the Israelites to cross the Red Sea while fleeing their slavery than it did when they finally crossed the Jordan River to enter their Promised Land.  

Exodus 14:21 and 24 and 27  –  Joshua 3:15

Fact of the Day 

No!  It took the two-to-three million Israelites just one night to cross the Red Sea.  That leaves people to believe they crossed at the narrowest point near today’s Suez Canal.  There, the Red Sea is approximately 9 miles across and 80 feet deep at the narrowest place and time of year.

Forty years later, they arrived at the Jordan River ready to conquer the Canaanites during flood stage.  At that time of year, the Jordan is some 2-3 miles across and nearly 100 feet deep.  A  much steeper incline from the shore on the east side and back up again at the shore on the west side would have been much more difficult to manage. But they all crossed in a day.

So strength and speed required of the people to cross the Red Sea and the Jordan River would have been similar.

There was only one Joshua in the Bible and he was the one who led the Israelites into the  land that had been promised to Abraham centuries earlier, and conquered it.

Numbers 13:16  –  Zechariah 3:1-10  –  Matthew 1:21 – 2nd Corinthians 5:21  –   Hebrews 2:9  –  Hebrews 4:14-16  –  Revelation 5:5

Fact of the Day 

Yes, no, and no.  There were three Joshuas.  And one of them did lead the former Israelite slaves into their promised land upon crossing the Jordan River from today’s nation of Jordan.  He was a general.  His father named him Hoshea, meaning one who saves.  But Moses renamed him Joshua – Jehovah saves.

The second Joshua in the Bible  was a high priest.  The prophet Zechariah had a vision of high priest Joshua  who was clothed with sin.   Symbolically he was a wooden stick snatched out of the fires (of  hell?).  The stick was also called wooden Branch and wooden Root that would take away all sins of the land in one day. 

The third Joshua is found in the New Testament identified as a wooden root or shoot or branch.   The Hebrew name of Joshua was pronunced differently by the modern Greeks of the New Testament.  Joshua is who we call Jesus.  On the cross he wore the sins of the world and bore our sins on the wooden cross.  After his return to heaven, he is identified as the sinless high priest.

SURPRISE OF THE DAY ~ September 5

Surprise of the Day

During time of war when people were starving to death, some of the Jews stayed alive by eating their children.

Leviticus 26:27-30  –  Deuteronomy 28:53-57  –  2nd Kings 6:24-29 –  Jeremiah 19:7-10 –  Lamentations 2:20  – Lamentations 4:10 –  Ezekiel 5:7-11 –  Micah 3:2-3 –

Fact of the Day  

Here are 3 verses predicting  it would happen and warning them:  

  • Leviticus 26:27-30 
  • Deuteronomy 28:53-57 
  • Jeremiah 19:7-10 

Here are instances when it happened and who did it:

  • II Kings 6:24-29 –mothers
  • Lamentations 2:20  –  mothers
  • Lamentations 4:10 – mothers
  • Ezekiel 5:7-11 – fathers & sons each other
  • Micah 3:2-3 – leaders

Now, to get your mind back off of it, sing a song.

God doesn’t mind if I miss worshiping on Sunday.  After all, a person has to live.  I had unexpected company last Sunday, and well yeah, I will be missing the day of the big game.  But God understands.  We are tight!  He’s my buddy. 

Exodus 20:8-11  –  Exodus 32:1-35  –  Hebrews 10:24-31

Fact of the Day  

No!  People who are more interested in doing other things than worship would be miserable in heaven where they worship all the time.  Then, they would make heaven miserable.  This cannot be!

 It is one of the most serious crimes in the Bible. People today who “skip worship” on Sundays to do other things [desecrate] are similar to the Jews who “skipped the Sabbath Day” in Bible times to do other things [desecrate]. It is serious. What will happen to them?

During the days of the Old Testament and when the Law of  Moses was kept, this was the command:  “You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the LORD, who makes you holy. Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it [does other things that day] is to be put to death.”

And in the New Testament, Hebrews says in part, “…25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. 26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.”

When I complain to God in prayer about all the bad things happening to me, he will hear my pain and solve my problems.

Fact of the Day  

No! Complaining is akin to bitterness and harboring grudges.  When we complain, we are telling God we do not want to be where he wants us to be or to experience what he wants us to experience.  Instead of complaining, we are to rejoice that things are bad for us.  Huh?  Look it up.  

When you are tired and feel helpless, live in the moment.  Bloom where you are planted.  The world will notice.

The Jews were required to give a tithe to the temple every year.

Fact of the Day  

No! !  It was much more. A good Jew gave about one third of his income, not just one tenth. (1) The Jews had to give an extra tithe every three years for their welfare program. (2) They had to pay for their vows, which in many cases were really special prayer requests.  (3) They had to buy animals for sacrifices for intentional sins, unintentional sins and sins requiring restitution.  (4) If they wanted to thank God for anything special, they had to buy grain for a sacrifice  (5)  If they didn’t have mney to buy the animals or grain, they had to take them out of their own supply, thus depleting their own “pay check.” (6) And every time one of their flocks or herds had a first-born “first-fruits”, they had to sacrifice it ~ another depleting of the “pay check.”

God was mean to tell the Jews to take over someone else’s land.

Deuteronomy 12:29-31

Genesis 15:13-16  –   II Kings 17:16-18,  &  29-30  –  II Kings 21:3-11

Fact of the Day  

No! God  promised Abraham that his descendants could take over  land occupied by other people – the Amorites. But not yet.  They had to wait until the sins of the Amorites peaked . The Amorites were practicing human sacrifice to the fire god Moloch (later adopted by Baal priests).  God used the Jews to punish the Amorites.  And he warned the Jews that, if they ever did the same things, that when they reached the peak of their evil, he would give the land to yet someone else.   Then later, the two Jewish kings did the same horrible thing – sacrifice their own  children.  So God kept that promise too. He let two nations come and take the land away from the Jews as their punshment. They ended up in today’s Northern and Southern Iraq – Assyria and Babylon.

If anyone has a vision of God speaking directly to them, it proves they are saved.

Numbers 23:7-10  –  Numbers 23:18-24  –  Revelation 2:14

Fact of the Day  

No!  The pagan prophet Balaam made beautiful prophecies about the Israelites and Jesus, a savior who would come 2000 years later.  But he did so against his will.    God put those words in his mouth.  God made him bless the Israelites and would not let him curse them as Balaam wanted to do.  To try to counter his blessing, Balaam stayed around  and enticed those same Israelites to sin by eating food offered to idols and worshiping with prostitute temple priestesses in Moab (today’s southern Jordan).  Therefore, Revelation says he was the one who was cursed.
