Scripture for Sunday, October 29 (10/29)

The scripture for today, October 29 (10/29), is John 10:29 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

0-BK 6-PromiseKeeper-Cover-medium-new-kindle“My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.”

No other person can take our salvation away from us. They may badger us, belittle us, torture us, kill us, but they cannot take our salvation away from us. The only one who can do that is ourselves.

The Apostle Peter said, “Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall….Be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position” (II Peter 1:10; 3:17).

Hebrews 2:1 says, “We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.”

Jesus himself said, “All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved” (Matthew 10:22).

Can we live and worship without each other?  I Corinthians 10:12 says, “Let him who thinks he stands, take heed lest he fall.”  Let us continue to meet with other Christians to keep each other shored up. It is almost impossible alone.

Where will you be on Sunday that is more important than your soul?

Scripture for Wednesday, May 17 (5/17)

The scripture for today, May 17 (5/17) is John 5:17 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

FunWithBibleNumbers-Cover-Kindle“Jesus said to them, ‘My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.’ “

There are places in the Psalms that say God is thinking about us all the time. When we’re walking, riding, talking, doing, coming, going.

God is always working for us. A popular song a few years ago was, “He’s Got the Whole World In His Hands.”

But does he always keep us from harm? He gave us free will, and sometimes we don’t make good choices. Others around us have free will, and they sometimes don’t make good choices. Still God is there beside us if we fall, always holding out his hand to lift us up.

God is our Creator.  Jesus ~ the Words of God ~ was the Creator too (John 1:1-2). We are the work of his “hands.” How he loves us and cherishes us and cares for us, always to this very day.

Scripture for Thursday, April 13 (4/13)

The scripture for today, April 13, is Philippians 4:13 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

0-Stephen-Cover-Kindle-Medium“I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”

Life is not easy. Plans are scattered, dreams are shattered, and even predictable every-day things sometimes give way to the unknown and unpredictable. Maybe you have made bad decisions, or you weren’t prepared for emergencies, or you are an innocent victim of someone else’s problems.

But there is Someone who knows everything that is happening to you and who will walk beside you down whatever path you find yourself. Further, even if you lose faith in Him, He will not lose faith in you.

When you don’t feel like it, reach out to God. Pray, even if all you can think of to talk about is how terrible things are right now. At least you’re talking. And read the Bible, for that is God talking to you. Keep the two-way communication going. Amidst your weeping when you fall, God will give you strength and once again lift you up.

The scripture for today, November 11 (11/11), is Romans 11:11a as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

Header-Jesus' Hands In Clouds“Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all!”

We weak humans may decide to live for God. But we are still weak humans. So sometimes we stumble and fall. God stands with us. And when we fall, we are not beyond hope. For God holds out his hands and says, “Take them. I will lift you back up.”

So we do. And so he does.

He is so amazingly patient with us. He loves us so.
