Fact of the Day
John the Baptizer and Jesus were cousins born 6 months apart. He knew his whole life who Jesus was. But, after he grew up and began preaching to introduce Jesus to the world, he began to have doubts. Was he preaching a lie or truth? He said he did not know who Jesus was, so the Spirit descended and God spoke out of heaven saying this was his Son. And while in prison with the strong possibility he would be executed, once again, he apparently needed a sign. He sent word to Jesus, “Are you the one?” Despite having moments of doubt, Jesus called him great.

“Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way, he asked them, ‘Who do people say I am?’ “
“For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”
