Golden Cover-KINDLE-thumbnailI praise you, God of my life. I praise you in song and word and time. I do not know how else to praise you. You are worthy of it all and so much more.  Break through the barriers people have put up between them and you. Break through with your powerful love that will not let them go. May I be your instrument somehow in my puny way. You are holy. Every place people step is holy ground, for you have already been there. You made it all. Shine through black hearts, bring your light into their lives and let their souls live again.

Lord, forgive me when I try too hard. Help me let go sometimes and step back so you can do your work. Sometimes I worry about politics, sometimes about the environment, sometimes about crime and immorality and people trying to turn false gods into you. Help me take a deep breath sometimes so you can move in and penetrate o heart. Forgive me when I think it all depends on me. It does not. You are in charge of all. Everything will ultimately work out to somehow glorify you. Everything and everyone will somehow bow to their Creator.

Thank you for modern computers where I can type words so much faster than handwriting as we did before, and talk to multitudes instead of licking a stamp and putting it on an envelope to just one person. How amazing all this technology.  May the forces of good outdo the forces of evil who try to use the same means to penetrate people’s hearts. And thank you for my family, my neighbors, the school teachers of the children, the medical providers, our government, and mostly for you, the lover of my soul. How I adore you, my Lord and my God.

You are the pulse of the universe. When Satan destroys what you made, you make it again. When Satan makes sick what you made, you heal it. When Satan makes someone sin, you forgive. When Satan kills, you bring back to life. You are all I need to live life to the fullest. I praise and rejoice in you. Every part of my being praises you. Now and forever you are my joy and wonder.  I cannot help but worship you.

Father, I told something a friend said about another friend, not thinking about what I was doing.  Why did I say that? I did not need to. All I did was cause dissension between them. Lord, help them forget what I said so they will still be friends with each other. And forgive my unnecessary talk.

Thank you, Spirit of God, for being the Word that I read, the meaning that it carries, the response that it evokes. Your words are power. They echo through the universe with truth and life and love. Your words will never lose their magnificence. And thank you for the two new books I just read about the different ways men and women think.  Men and women complement each other. That’s the way you intended us to be and it is dynamic. And for my family and friends, I thank you. And my congregation. You bring us all together and we are one in you.

Even raging storms declare your power, butterflies declare your gentleness, giddy grass coming back to life each spring declares your mercy. You make, then you remake. You create and recreate. You raise up, cheer up, climb up, clean up. You love without boundaries. Your mercy is limitless. Your life without end.

I was discouraged the other day and dragged my family down with me. I could have excused myself and gone for a walk or into a room alone. I could have written them a love note asking for their patience while I rebuilt. I did not. I snapped at them because I felt so bad inside. I did not know how to change it. Do you think it would help to write some love notes to my family and put them away for the next time it happens? Can you help them forgive me?  Will you forgive me?

Thank you, Jesus, for all you did for me. I couldn’t do it. I still cannot be perfect. No matter how hard I try, I fail. So, you did it for me. You were perfect for me. Then you took the blame for my imperfections along with my punishment. The world hated you because you were perfect and we were not. Jesus, you did so much. I cannot begin to comprehend it all.  But I can spend eternity thanking you with my heart, my spirit, my soul.

Satan did not have a chance against you.  Even when Satan planned to kill the souls of all mankind, you stepped in and would not let him. You ransomed us from him with that terrible price he demanded. You are so powerful. Satan keeps killing, you keep creating. Satan keeps convincing us to sin and you keep forgiving. Satan brings darkness into our lives, you bring sunshine into our souls. You are omnipotent beyond understanding. You are Love and will never give up the fight to keep Satan away from us. I cannot help but worship you, the Delight of my soul.

Jesus, my sins are so many. I do the same things over and over. I am trying to overcome them. I feel the guilt, but I also feel your everlasting forgiveness.  Over and over you forgive. Such love. Such love. How can you? You never tire of forgiving. How can I thank you enough? Each page of your Word astounds me. Within those pages, you reveal everything about yourself ~ your deepest longings for mankind, your disappointments, your feelings of betrayal, your shouts of joy. It’s all in there ~ as much as my finite mind can grasp. No guessing. Oh, and thank you for color. Color is so delightful! When Spring returns, all the colors will arise in greeting.

You have and are all I need to survive and thrive in this world where Satan is gradually losing his claim to be the ruler. Oh, I know Christians everywhere are lamenting the growing disinterest in and even animosity toward you. But it is not true. You have thousands of thousands in hiding where Christianity is illegal who have not bowed down to the gods of self and fake religions.  Your church will never die, regardless of how often it is attacked and neglected.  Your church will only grow stronger.  I stand with them drawn to you like a magnet. You are the All Mighty.  Just as you will never die, your Bride will never die.  All praise belongs to you, all honor, glory, and adoration. I, in the strength of your ethereal love, fall at your feet and worship you.

Ah, how I thank you, God, for your Bible and pouring out your heart in it. Sharing all the pain you felt through the ages when your loved ones sinned, keeping faith in them anyway, and feeling joy when they stood up for right and returned to you. How you love me, your child, and set me on your knee so you can tell me the stories of long ago as warnings and encouragements to me today. As I read, I can imagine you smiling and nodding and whispering, “Keep reading, my child. There’s more. I put it in there just for you.”

Wednesday 12/25 ~ Give them some star glow

CHRISTMAS Books

The scripture for today, December 25 (12/25), is Proverbs 12:25 as found in the Old Testament of the Bible:

“An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.”

Yesterday, did you see anyone sitting alone looking downcast? Go back there today. S/he may not be there, but someone else may be. It may be a gathering place for the lonely, the discouraged. Smile at them and whisper, “Jesus loves you.” Have a lengthy conversation with them and show them they are worthy of your time.   Spend time with them. Listen to them. Share with them.

Do you periodically see “beggars” at a certain location? They may squander donations or use them to buy food. Either way, being a beggar isn’t people’s life’s goal. You do not know their story. Everyone has a story. Their hearts are anxious about something.

Give them a little change, maybe wrap it in a verse from the Bible.  Ask them if they have family and if their family would accept them back. If so, encourage them to “go home.” Perhaps pay for a bus ticket back home. If they say they can’t go home, try anyway. Tell them you will pray for them. Smile at them, and whisper, “Jesus loves you.”

Today, do you know of a place where travelers usually stay or gather? Sometimes at truck stops there are drivers who could not get home. Go to one of these places prepared to give each of them something special, or even invite them to your home for a Christmas feast.

Jesus encouraged and helped the downhearted. Is it uncomfortable being in their world? Yes.  Dare to disturb your happiness to enter their world and show Jesus to the downhearted. Dare to be a star shining on them in their darkness.  Give them a few minutes of star glow.

Tuesday 12/17 ~ Fight the Good Fight

The scripture for today, December 17 (12/17), is Revelation 12:17 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

07-Samson-KindleThumbnail“Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring ~ those who obey God’s commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.”

Verse 9 says the dragon is also the serpent which is also Satan.

Are you one of those people who seem to be enraged all the time? You may have long ago given up on being able to change.  But you can direct your anger. If you want to be enraged at someone, be angry at Satan. Go to war with Satan. Rage at everything he is doing. Lash out at everything he stands for.

Are you angry at the church or at God? Keep that energy and switch sides. Be a spiritual warrior, a Christian soldier of the Lord.

Have you tried and just cannot get rid of anger in your life? You may mellow in your old age, but that mellowness is a long way off. You have never experienced rage until you have understood Satan. He is enraged at you. He is enraged at anyone who loves God or good people. Go ahead. Get on God’s side, enroll in the army of the Lord, and use your anger against Satan.

Does it work? Paul said in 1st Timothy 1:13, “I was a violent man.” Yet, he saved the souls of thousands of people Satan held hostage all over southern Europe, as he “fought the good fight”.

Saturday 12/14 ~ Hold fast. Stand firm.

The scripture for today, December 14 (12/14), is 1st Samuel 12:14 as found in the Old Testament of the Bible:

02-samuel-thumbnailcover“If you fear the Lord and serve and obey him and do not rebel against his commands, and if both you and the king who reigns over you follow the Lord your God ~ good!”

The Jews had just insisted on having a king rule over them instead of a supreme judge. Samuel, their last supreme judge, replied and said two IFs. IF they serve and obey the Lord, and IF they both (people and king) follow the Lord, then it is good.

Today as then, some people live in a nation where the king/government does not follow the Lord. What to do? Galatians 5:22 tells us to be loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled, for “against such things there is no law”.

Is it hard to do this when crooked officials are getting all the advantages and you are being cheated and even threatened if you do not cooperate? Indeed, it is. It may seem they are living the good life. In reality (eternal reality, not earthly reality). They have lost everything. This life is fleeting. Keep your eyes on the eternal. Keep your eyes on God!

Hold fast!

       Stand firm!

             Do the right thing!

In the end, they lose. You and God win. And that is good!

The scripture for today, December 9 (12/9), is 2nd Corinthians 12:9 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

0-Mefiboset-KINDLE Thumbnail“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

Oh, how much we need to be reminded of this scripture. Everyone has weaknesses of some kind. Do you complain about the hand you were dealt? Do you lament the country you were born in, the family you were born into, the physical limitations you were born with, the mental, emotional or physical deficiencies you ended up with?

This is your chance! Your grand and glorious chance. Those weaknesses! Go around others with the same weakness you have with joy in your heart, gladness on your lips and a continual gleam in your eyes!  Let God’s strength shine in your weakness!

When people begin to sympathize with you, interrupt them and tell them how much God loves you, and how much God loves them! Encourage your “encouragers.” Let them go away from you with a new understanding of the blessings of weakness! And perhaps be a little more thankful for their own weaknesses.

Lucky you! You are one of the chosen!  God will be glorified in you.  He is so proud of you!
