The whirlwinds roar at the thought of their Creator.  The stars zoom through the cosmos at seeing your glory.  The tiny baby coos with your gentleness, young men stretch their muscles with your toughness, the ladies sing with the strains of your effervescence. The whole universe praises you. My heart, my soul, my being reaches out for you.

My soul soars with the gladness of you, the love of you, the excitement of you. What more do I need? It seems so trite to ask you to help me pass a test, to win a contest, get a promotion or buy an amazing item of clothing. I need none of that. All I need is you. If I am in the chasm of a prison someday, may I remember I am most blessed because I have you. So, I say thank you for everything I have and everything I do not have. I have enough. All I need is lost souls to bring to you.  Give me souls, dear Lord, or else I die.

Mostly you are the God of my heart. I adore you. You forgive me for the same things over and over. How can you? Because you are Love and to be l ess would be beneath your very nature. I am so small and unworthy, but you see me anyway. You even think about me all the time. I am never out of your thoughts. The magnitude of your heart transcends worlds and all that exists.

Oh, Jesus, you did so much, felt so much, said so much, gave so much. Mostly, you forgave so much. Thank you, God, for materializing so you could do those things for me. Thank you for leaving your world and entering mine. Thank you for doing what was necessary to ransom my soul from Satan and open the door to heaven. How I long to go through that door and be with you one-on-one forever. Thank you for being everywhere at once and making each one of millions feel as though we alone have your undivided attention. I can never understand how you do it. But I can thank you over and over and over, my Lord. And worship you.

OldOldTunes-ThumbnailMy soul lifts up praises to you day and night. As my Creator, you are the God of my life, my soul, my being. You are all I need to exist. Without you, the world is formless and empty just as it was at the beginning.  You give my life form and substance. You give me a reason to be, to live, to die. You are beyond the finiteness of my comprehension. Oh, how I wish I could understand you more.

Ah, thank you, my Lord, for your simple Word. You never leave me guessing what you are doing or wanting or saying. I can just follow your Words with simple, childlike faith. When I read it and meditate on it, I feel as though I am sitting at the foot of your very throne. You are reading to me, and looking down at me to make sure I’m still paying attention. And you smile.  Thank you, too, for sleep. When I awake each day, I am full of gratitude for chances to start all over again. You are, indeed, the God of second chances. Keep smiling, Lord. Road to Heaven-COVER-KINDLE-THUMBNAILI praise you, my God, for your stubborn love, your patient, protective, persistent love. A love that never lets go of me. You are my joy in the morning, my courage during the day, my peace at night. You are the air I breathe, the bread I eat, the songs I hear. My praises fly on expanded wings to you. How I long to be with you in your home someday. It will happen, my Lord. I know it will happen. 

Thank you for going through so much to save me from problems that are my own doing. You straighten out my messes and turn them into butterflies and roses and gentle waters. Thank you for helping me sense the problems of others so I can soothe their aching hearts with a mutual tear, a smile, a happy word, a walk together.

My heart overflows with enraptured gratitude for your Bible so I can know and understand you even with my finite mind. Thank you for materializing your Words and walking among us so we could see your example of stubborn loyalty to truth and love. You never faltered, all the way to suffering in my place and, despite your agony, standing up defiantly to Satan.  The blood ransom you paid Satan to free us:  He didn’t think you would pay it. He underestimated the power of love and divine clemency.  Ah, rapturous thoughts of gratitude.

Was Jesus God-COVER-kindle-thumbnailHow can I praise you enough, Jehovah, my Maker, my Love, my Life?  You are all that I am, all that I need, all that I long for. And to think that, of the thousands praying to you right now, you hear me! Ah, to comprehend you completely. I know it is not possible with my finite mind. I am restless to see you someday in your realm–in the heavenly realm.  Someday I will slip away from earth and, with a whisper and a sigh, I will enter your presence, and understand.  Until then, my soul will praise you.

Jesus, you were God’s presence in the pillar out in the wilderness those forty years long ago. You were in the water of life that flowed from the rock for thirsty nomads. You were in the bread that fell from heaven for your hungry people.  Finally, you were in the body of Jesus, the man. How great you are. Satan’s ego makes him and everything he does ugly.  But you!  The God of Existence lowers himself in earthly forms to help us understand.  Why?  Love!  You are always with me in whatever form I need. I think you are also in the curiosity of a child, the courage of the handicapped, the voice of a singer. In that other realm, you are the sword that overcomes Satan, the truths that expose Satan, the Life and Love that scares Satan silly. You cannot win, Satan! The holy God is stronger and will be victorious over you in the true war of the worlds. I am on his side and will always thank him for fighting you in a way I cannot.  Such love from my Maker.  I thank you for all you do for me, but it is never enough.  Will it ever be?

I will spend my days searching your Word to follow you closer and know you better. When I read your words, I am filled with awe and wonder. You thought of everything to include in it for me. Some is advice, but most are examples of others who rose or fell and why they did. Ah, Lord God, you are the ultimate example of rising and never falling. You are what I strive to be. I will never rise that high, I know this. So, I will continue to worship you. Now. Forever.

Thank you, Jesus, for being my Passover Lamb. You died so I wouldn’t have to. Now, every Sunday I eat the symbol of your body and think of the sins ~ my sins ~ that caused all your mental and physical anguish. I take a sip of the symbol of your blood.  How could I ever take your precious blood for granted? The cup ~ your blood drained from your body ~ was all for me. All for me!  I fall at your feet and wash them with the tears of my remorse and wipe those tears away as you did my sins. You are my hero.

02-DreamMakerChildsCartoonSmallI praise and adore you, Lord God of heaven and earth. Of angels and people. Of stars and beasts. Of galaxies and molecules. So great and so minuscule ~ too large and too small for me to even see. You are in all.  You made all.  Your glory and might and wonders are reflected in all.  You are my Maker, my Defender, the Lover of my soul. You make darkness light. You make rough roads smooth. You make my chains break and fall away. I feel so warm and loved in your presence. You alone are worthy of worship.

Thank you, Jesus, for all your sacrifices. Over and over you sacrificed ~ heaven, a normal childhood, being a suspected bastard, being hounded by would-be assassins for over two years. You went in and out of hiding. You dared them to live what they demanded of others. They hated you for it. They tortured you, insulted you, crucified you. Then death and hell.  All to give Satan what he demanded in exchange for our souls ~ the blood of God.  So much. Because of MY sins. My sins. You never gave up. Your unselfish, self-sacrificing love is unfathomable. Help me comprehend your dazzling love more so I can thank you more.

Your words materialize by whatever means you chose ~ in a burning bush, in the form of an angel, in the body of Jesus.  I sit and dream a little about the day I shall see that part of you for myself coming in the clouds. Sometimes I look up in white billowy clouds wondering how it will be. Ah, the wonder of it all. Celebrations and tears, laughter and embraces. I’m on my way home, Lord. I’m on my way home.
