I am kind of a world traveler. I have lived in Korea, United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Tokyo, Canada, Afghanistan, India and USA. I remember when President Kennedy was assassinated, watched the first human walk on the moon, Alaska became a state, President Kennedy & Martin Luther King were shot, and the first human walked on the moon. I remember when the first Star Wars movie came out, 900 religiously misguided humans committed suicide in Guyana, when Microsoft was "invented" and the Ayatollah Khoumeini took over Iran, kicked out western companies (employers) and returned his country to the dark ages. I WAS THERE WHEN MOUNT SAINT HELENS BLEW. I remember when the Berlin Wall fell, the Internet was created, the first warm-blooded animal was cloned (a sheep) and the Hubble Telescope was launched - all in the 1980s. And you?

Thank you for the beautiful earth you prepared for me. Oh, how I delight to hear the birds in the summertime as they warble and sing their songs to me and flutter from flower to flower like my soul does among the stars when I think of you. How I wonder when I see the ocean and imagine its depths teeming with life great and small, dreary and colorful happily existing together there.  How I gasp when I feel the wind always turning and swirling like a top and playing tag with my hair.  It rushes in like a lion, then just as suddenly purrs like a kitten. Such a delightful Father you are to me.

00-PAUL COVER-Thumbnail-I praise you all mighty God. Oh, how you have spoiled me. You placed diamonds in mountain-top snow, rubies in the flowers, emeralds in the meadows, and delight in the birds that daily sing to me. As I climb the mountain of my life I think back of all the enormous opportunities I had as a youth. As I grow older and climb higher, my choices are narrowing and I am glad. My focus is more and more on you. Someday I will reach the mountain top, and you will be there. You will smile and say, “Welcome home.”

Ah, thank you, my Lord, for all you have done for us through the history of mankind. I, along with everyone else, travel a wilderness, often not making good choices. The frustrations you must feel when I don’t pay attention to you but they do not stop you from loving me. You have been too patient. But you also give me your Word map in my wilderness to show me just where I am. And give me work to do in order to make sense of life. Thank you for entrusting me with that work. GENEALOGY ~ Genesis 11:10-26; 12:4:

Noah was 502 years old when Shem was born
Shem was 100 years old when Arphaxad was born
Arphaxad was 35 years old when Selah was born
Selah was 30 years old when Eber was born
Eber was 34 years old when Peleg was born
Peleg was 30 years old when Reu was born
Reu was 32 years old when Serug was born
Serug was 30 years old when Nahor was born
Nahor was 29 years old when Terah was born
Terah was 70 years old when Abraham was born

                 892 years – Noah’s age when Abraham was born

Since Noah died at age 950, Abraham was 58 years old when Noah died.

[I wonder if it was Noah’s death that precipitated God telling Abraham it’s time to move.]

He was born and raised in Ur of Chaldea/Babylon.  He did move to Haran.  He moved from Ur to Haran probably between age 60-70.  He left Haran at age 75 and went to Canaan (later called Israel).

Regardless, Abraham did know Noah for 58 years.  Hmmm.

But most of all, your Bible shows how you have stuck with us even to sending a part of you to live with us, show us what it is like to be sinless, then show us how to die while taking the blame and punishment for our sins. Not only mine but that of the most deviant degenerate sinner. Did that part of you descend to hell for us so you could break out for us? How can I thank you for all this and then writing it down so we can know about it? How I love your Word.  I am so blest.

Road to Heaven-COVER-KINDLE-THUMBNAILI praise you, my God, for your stubborn love, your patient, protective, persistent love. A love that never lets go of me. You are my joy in the morning, my courage during the day, my peace at night. You are the air I breathe, the bread I eat, the songs I hear. My praises fly on expanded wings to you. How I long to be with you in your home someday. It will happen, my Lord. I know it will happen. 

Thank you for going through so much to save me from problems that are my own doing. You straighten out my messes and turn them into butterflies and roses and gentle waters. Thank you for helping me sense the problems of others so I can soothe their aching hearts with a mutual tear, a smile, a happy word, a walk together.

My heart overflows with enraptured gratitude for your Bible so I can know and understand you even with my finite mind. Thank you for materializing your Words and walking among us so we could see your example of stubborn loyalty to truth and love. You never faltered, all the way to suffering in my place and, despite your agony, standing up defiantly to Satan.  The blood ransom you paid Satan to free us:  He didn’t think you would pay it. He underestimated the power of love and divine clemency.  Ah, rapturous thoughts of gratitude.

I adore you, Lord God. You are the Will of the universe, the Voice of the cosmos, the Spirit of the heavens. You provide all my needs. You are my delight now and will be forever. I know someday you will take me home to, not only know you but be with you. What a glorious day it will be. Though others may weep, I will awake in eternal morning. I will celebrate with the angels, for I will be at home with you at last. At last. Oh, delightful thought, enraptured thought.  My soul soars in praise of you.

Thank you, my Lord, for your Words that explain everything so clearly. They touch my heart like silk and lighten my day like a thousand suns. They are my daily enchantment and delight. I have pored over them and meditated on them like a thirsty wanderer every day for many years and haven’t tired of them yet. Nor will I ever. Sometimes I come close, but the desire never really goes away. Did you put that longing in my heart? Is it your Spirit embracing mine? I worship you in the splendor of thanksgiving.

Clouds in blue skyCHRISTIANITY OR ISLAM: THE CONTRAST is the result of studying the Qur’an closely.  Though the Qur’an proclaims over and over “Allah is most merciful,” I saw another Allah in other pages.  The first part of the book quotes both the Qur’an and New Testament of the Bible on the same subjects. Most Muslims do not know those passages showing the other side of Islam are in the Quran.  The middle of the Book explains what Muslims are told Christians believe that we really do not believe such as following three gods. The last part of the book is quotes from 100 of my Muslim English/Bible students who have decided Jesus really was the Word that became flesh and dwelt among us. My God, you are the self-existent one. I am always overwhelmed with awe when I read Isaiah’s prediction that the Child who will be born someday in Bethlehem will be called both Son and Father and mighty God.  The Son is Father of the Child. You begat each other because you are both the First Cause and the material manifestation of yourself. You are self-existent. You are the great I AM. You are from eternity to eternity. You are so far above my understanding, I ache to comprehend the unfathomable intensity of your being.

Your love washes over my soul and makes me feel wanted and protected and special. Ah, my Lord, I am a friend of the King of the universe, the Maker of heaven and earth, the Lover of my heart and soul. Just think! I am not only your friend, but you have made me your Bride. Sometimes you smile at me, sometimes you take my hand and walk through dark shadows with me, sometimes you run with me through meadows of happy deeds as together we reach out to the rest of the world. I am never alone when I am with you. How blissful and beautiful I feel when I think of you, my Lord.

Love Letters of Jesus & his Bride, Eccelsia-THUMBNAILLOVE LETTERS OF JESUS & HIS BRIDE, ECCLESIA is a retelling of the Song of Solomon on his wedding day.  Each chapter becomes a letter to “he” or “she”.  It begins with her conversion (betrothal), goes through all the times they run into the street, “Have you seen my beloved?” because Ecclesia (the church) has wandered away, and ends with the world grabbing her and Jesus calling to her, “I am coming quickly.” The book has 500 footnotes. Love Letters of Jesus & his Bride-medium

February’s recommended reading is LOVE LETTERS OF JESUS AND HIS BRIDE, ECCLESIA.  Each chapter in the Song of Solomon is presented as a letter.  And within each chapter are an average of 100 footnotes showing the symbolism in this book as it represents the church, the Bride of Christ, Jesus’ Ecclesia.

It begins with her conversion (betrothal), goes through all the times she wanders from him and they both go out to the street asking, “Have you seen my beloved?”  and ends with the world grabbing her and trying to get her away from Jesus.  He sends word to his bride, “I am coming quickly.”

This book has not caught on yet.  I urge you to give it a try.  It can be a gift book and quickly read as prose.  But give it a second reading ~ this time looking up all the footnotes (nearly 500 in the book) applying what you read to the church today.  Your second reading will take time.  Lots of time.  It is a deep study of the church’s relationship to Christ, the lover of our soul.

Was Jesus God-COVER-kindle-thumbnailHow can I praise you enough, Jehovah, my Maker, my Love, my Life?  You are all that I am, all that I need, all that I long for. And to think that, of the thousands praying to you right now, you hear me! Ah, to comprehend you completely. I know it is not possible with my finite mind. I am restless to see you someday in your realm–in the heavenly realm.  Someday I will slip away from earth and, with a whisper and a sigh, I will enter your presence, and understand.  Until then, my soul will praise you.

Jesus, you were God’s presence in the pillar out in the wilderness those forty years long ago. You were in the water of life that flowed from the rock for thirsty nomads. You were in the bread that fell from heaven for your hungry people.  Finally, you were in the body of Jesus, the man. How great you are. Satan’s ego makes him and everything he does ugly.  But you!  The God of Existence lowers himself in earthly forms to help us understand.  Why?  Love!  You are always with me in whatever form I need. I think you are also in the curiosity of a child, the courage of the handicapped, the voice of a singer. In that other realm, you are the sword that overcomes Satan, the truths that expose Satan, the Life and Love that scares Satan silly. You cannot win, Satan! The holy God is stronger and will be victorious over you in the true war of the worlds. I am on his side and will always thank him for fighting you in a way I cannot.  Such love from my Maker.  I thank you for all you do for me, but it is never enough.  Will it ever be?
