I am kind of a world traveler. I have lived in Korea, United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Tokyo, Canada, Afghanistan, India and USA. I remember when President Kennedy was assassinated, watched the first human walk on the moon, Alaska became a state, President Kennedy & Martin Luther King were shot, and the first human walked on the moon. I remember when the first Star Wars movie came out, 900 religiously misguided humans committed suicide in Guyana, when Microsoft was "invented" and the Ayatollah Khoumeini took over Iran, kicked out western companies (employers) and returned his country to the dark ages. I WAS THERE WHEN MOUNT SAINT HELENS BLEW. I remember when the Berlin Wall fell, the Internet was created, the first warm-blooded animal was cloned (a sheep) and the Hubble Telescope was launched - all in the 1980s. And you?

O06-Boy Jesus-Thumbnail Coverh, my Lord, sometimes I am giddy with excitement over you. Sometimes I want to walk with you, talk with you, laugh with you, cry with you.  I want to run with you through meadows and lie on the grass and watch the clouds float by. When I am in a breeze, I wonder if you are whispering to me. Sometimes when I hear the flutter of wings overhead, I wonder if you are embracing me. You call me your child, then spoil me with your love. How I rejoice in you. My heart calls out to your heart. Even in the deepest gloom, I feel your presence. All that has been, is, and will be honor and glorify you.

I was with some friends the other day who had planned a party. It was all planned, but I chimed in and started suggesting they change this thing and that. I brought them into disorder when there was no reason to. Help me bury my ego and keep my ideas to myself.

Thank you for March. The snow is beginning to melt. There are puddles everywhere and the lawns are soggy. How I rejoice when I see all this because I know it is a prelude to spring. How I love spring. Thank you for Spring. Yes, and winter. Winter when the world goes inside and rests. When I have more quiet time, family time, and reflecting time. Winter is good. But now I am ready for Spring. Your seasons. How delightful they are. And always on time. Your promises are like that ~ always on time. Thank you for the unique beauty and benefits of each season. You thought of everything.

05-KingJosiah-ThumbnailCoverAh, Mighty Jehovah. You are mighty in wonder, in love and life, justice and mercy. Mighty in creation of the largest and minutest. Never-ending. Always persisting. Never giving up. Always here. Never giving in. Always insisting. I am so much lower than you. Yet I am close to you in mind and heart and am part of you in soul and spirit. My thoughts of you swirl around like in a whirlwind and soar to you through the heavens. With all my being I laud and honor you.

Sometimes I am so selfish. Forgive my resentments when I feel unnoticed. Replace the hard part of my heart with childlike acceptance and discovery.

Thank you, my Lord, for the freedom I have living where I can worship you openly. And for health and wealth. For the beauty and peace of nature always around me, over me, under me. For color and shape, voices and music, taste and smell, touch and feeling. For beauty in all things.  Mostly for leaving the indescribable heaven to come rescue me from Satan. Then, when you returned to heaven you left behind a road for me to travel so I may join you in your world. The road is full of light and when I am on it, I feel the light ~ I feel you.

Fun with God

I am sharing this from one of my fellow World English Institute teachers named Sherri.  ENJOY!

Years ago somebody said to me that things like this, and other natural wonders, reminded him that God is creative and has a sense of humor, in addition to all the other attributes we usually focus on.  The mind that created all these wonders is so beyond our ability to completely understand.  
Also, I heard in a sermon once something to the effect of: God could have just made a tree.  One tree, duplicated over and over.  But instead, the diversity he employed, just among the types of trees, is almost mind-blowing.  He is able to do so much more than we can imagine. 
As amazing as the natural world is, part of its function is to let us see another side of him, and to see how principles we see all around us in the world he created for us to help illustrate great truths in the spiritual realm that we cannot sense with our earthly abilities.  I think it adds to our faith, and our wonder and awe of him.

04-King Joash-ThumbnailCoverI praise you for manifesting yourself in a body for a while, and in paper and ink. I have access to you any time I want.  Wonderful words of life ~ beautiful words, marvelous words. Words from your heart that make me see who and what I really am, and what and who you are. You reveal all I need to know and more. You reveal that which is above and beyond what I can even comprehend. Each year I live I discover something new in your Words I never noticed before. Then I can hardly wait to tell my friends. I cling to your Words until someday I hear you speak them in your world. The sound of your voice must be at once a roar and a whisper. What a duet of divinity!

Lord, people in the organization I met with yesterday didn’t even speak to me. No one did. They were all friendly, but to each other. I waited for someone to smile and say hello.  I resented them for it. I should have walked over and given them my smile and my hello.  

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for all you did for us on earth away from heaven. You left comfort for discomfort. Riches for poverty. Love for hatred. Being everywhere at once to being confined to a body. All so you could take me home with you. Thank you for creating the road and then lighting the way for me.  You are the way. Also, thank you for my family and freedom. And for it being March at last. Spring is almost here!  I can’t wait to see all the colors again.  You must have really enjoyed creating all the radiant fish with all kinds of glittering patterns on them, the delightful flowers all soft or prickly and reflecting every color in the rainbow.  What fun it must have been for you.  Thank you for all you do for me.

03-Naaman'sMaid-ThumbnailCoverAh, my Lord God of heaven and earth.  How I long to see you in all your glory.  I do not know how it is possible since you are larger than the cosmos with its two trillion galaxies and 100 thousand million stars in each one.  But then, you are the God of the impossible.  To behold the One who is Pure Love.  To be enraptured by my Creator.  Oh, to expand the wings of my adoring soul and fly to you.  This is my dream. This is my reason for being.

How can I stop thanking you, my Lord, for so many blessings?  A decent place to live, friends, sufficient food, reasonable health, a way to get around.  Restful evenings when I am enveloped in the arms of sleep and then sunshine that shoos the night away each smiling morning.  Mostly I thank you for materializing your Words in the form of Jesus so we could see you, hear you, touch you.  It was akin to me reducing myself to the form of a cockroach, so great was your sacrifice. I do not understand your love.  Open the eyes of my heart to know you better so I may express an all-consuming gratitude in my lowly way.

Even raging storms declare your power, butterflies declare your gentleness, giddy grass coming back to life each spring declares your mercy. You make, then you remake. You create and recreate. You raise up, cheer up, climb up, clean up. You love without boundaries. Your mercy is limitless. Your life without end.

I was discouraged the other day and dragged my family down with me. I could have excused myself and gone for a walk or into a room alone. I could have written them a love note asking for their patience while I rebuilt. I did not. I snapped at them because I felt so bad inside. I did not know how to change it. Do you think it would help to write some love notes to my family and put them away for the next time it happens? Can you help them forgive me?  Will you forgive me?

Thank you, Jesus, for all you did for me. I couldn’t do it. I still cannot be perfect. No matter how hard I try, I fail. So, you did it for me. You were perfect for me. Then you took the blame for my imperfections along with my punishment. The world hated you because you were perfect and we were not. Jesus, you did so much. I cannot begin to comprehend it all.  But I can spend eternity thanking you with my heart, my spirit, my soul.

01-Miriam-ThumbnailCoverMy Creator, my very being praises you. My every breath, my every heartbeat, every blink of my eye praises you. The mighty mountains and roaring seas praise you. The eagles flying high and soaring on the wings of the wind. The fish great and small that thrive somewhere in the deep waters.  The unborn children still snug in their mother’s womb.  The stars dancing through galaxies around the orb of the universe. Touch and sound, motion and stillness praise you. On ethereal wings, all things praise you.

Lord, I was in a hurry and I went way over the speed limit. Most people would call such claim of guilt silly, but I feel it. I endangered others by going a speed the engineers consider dangerous.  I didn’t listen. I paid no heed. I should have left home early enough. I didn’t. I endangered people because I was not prepared enough and was running late. And the place I was rushing to was not worth anyone’s life. What if I had hit someone and caused them to be maimed the rest of their life?  Worse, what if I had killed someone. I am so sorry. But thank you for protecting everyone I drove near.

Ah, thank you, my Lord, for color. How delightful color is. People who have been blind all their lives do not comprehend color. That just reminds me of what is in store in your world. What will heaven be like? I cannot begin to imagine. And for sound. Thank you for the sound of music, whether it be on the lips of a chorus, a child, a songbird, or the wind dancing among the leaves of a tree. How much fun it must have been for you to create the world. A little dab of blue here, a little brushstroke of red there. The warble of a bird, the enchantment of a bubbling creek.  Teach my eyes to see and my ears to hear it all. I love and worship you.

And when I lost my innocence with my first sin as they did in Eden, you loved me still.  You only walk away from me when I reject you over and over. Even then you turn and follow me around begging me to come back to you where I am safe from Satan. When I shun you, you weep in agony.  Finally, I turn around and let you embrace me and we are one again. Then I sin again and run from you, and you run after me once again in tears, once again saying, “Return to my arms”. Such love. Over and over through my life this happens. You never give up on me. Your love is so amazing. It is greater than the unending cosmos. It is greater than my heart. I bow before you, so unworthy.

I bragged about something yesterday. Why do I do that? Help me forget myself and enter the hearts and lives of others. Help me bury my ego and let you live in me.

Thank you for Jesus who is the reason for my life here. Jesus, you did so much for me. More than I can ever understand. Why did you? I am sinful. I will tell others what you did in such a way that they realize all you suffered was for them too.  In every way I know how, I will tell others because of my gratitude. How can I thank you enough for saving my soul from Satan and opening the door to heaven for me? I will try to live a life of gratitude so that, in some way, you will know the depths of the happiness you bring to me.

It has two trillion galaxies in it and each galaxy has 100 thousand million stars in it.  Well, I do know the answer to that. You made it all.  But it is a temporary universe. You will never dissolve it until it has served its purpose for mankind. Your purposes are beyond comprehension. Your purposes are in mysterious shadows beyond my understanding.  I know someday you will pull aside the veil of mystery and I will see your purposes in all their glory.

Thank you, Jesus, for all you did for me. You did not have to leave the safety of your world, heaven. But you are Love. You would have no longer been Love had you stayed.  You could not bear Satan destroying my soul even though I and everyone else had sinned against you and continue to. They say love is what makes the world go ‘round. Some are arrogant and exclaim, “Stop the world and let me get off.”  You, Lord God, humbled yourself and said, “World, I am coming to you.” You humbled yourself and became like me to show me the way home. I fall at your wounded feet and thank you over and over.
