January 10 ~ Things in the Bible not really in the Bible…and a few surprises

 

Oops of the Day  

  • Jesus gave Peter the keys of the kingdom of heaven so he could forgive sins.
  • Then he preached the first sermon in Jerusalem to start the church.
  • Then he went to Rome and became the first pope and people bowed down to him.

Fact of the Day

No! 

1-Jesus gave those binding keys to all the apostles.

2-All the apostles preached in the twelve languages of the crowd on the Day of Pentecost in Jerusalem.

3-When a someone bowed down to Peter, he made him stand up because “I am just a man like you”. 

4-Even in Peter’s second letter where he said he was about to die, he only identified himself as an indentured servant and apostle, but never as pope. 

5-And, by the way, Peter was married, not celibate
