I lift up the eyes of my heart and see you afar off.  I lift up the eyes of my soul and feel you next to me. I am in awe of you. You deserve all my worship.

Thank you, Jesus, for coming to show me how to live and how to die. You were stubborn in your love. You insisted on never denying the truth. You insisted on standing when everyone wanted you to fall. Someday if times come to that, grant me the privilege of dying for you just as you did for me. With you, death is but a door to real, true life. I fall at your feet unworthy of your undying love. Thank you also for my family and their love and peace and care. And for the church and your divine words.

I will not let them. And when I am weak, you will stand between us and not let him get to me. Nothing praises Satan except the horror of emptiness and shadows and hollow egos. All things good and grand and glorious praise you now and forever.

Thank you for my family and friends. Thank you for the animals that sometimes show more love than do humans. And for birds that hop around and flutter and fly and sing to me. You have and are all I need to survive and thrive in this world where Satan is gradually losing his claim to be the ruler. Oh, I know Christians everywhere are lamenting the growing disinterest in and even animosity toward you. But it is not true. You have thousands of thousands in hiding where Christianity is illegal who have not bowed down to the gods of self and fake religions.  Your church will never die, regardless of how often it is attacked and neglected.  Your church will only grow stronger.  I stand with them drawn to you like a magnet. You are the All Mighty.  Just as you will never die, your Bride will never die.  All praise belongs to you, all honor, glory, and adoration. I, in the strength of your ethereal love, fall at your feet and worship you.

Ah, how I thank you, God, for your Bible and pouring out your heart in it. Sharing all the pain you felt through the ages when your loved ones sinned, keeping faith in them anyway, and feeling joy when they stood up for right and returned to you. How you love me, your child, and set me on your knee so you can tell me the stories of long ago as warnings and encouragements to me today. As I read, I can imagine you smiling and nodding and whispering, “Keep reading, my child. There’s more. I put it in there just for you.”

You made us to be farther away but as your children. How you do love us. I guess sometimes I envy the angels because they are always in your presence. But they envy humans.  I am your child. Your child!  I belong to your royal family.  What honor. What privilege.  What dignity you bestow upon me. And someday, I will behold you as you are and worship you on bended knees.

Thank you, God, for all you have done for us through history. We are the center of your world as children are to a loving parent. How you grieve when we fall, and rejoice when we return. Thank you for materializing your words in the form of Jesus.  Oh, to have been able to see and touch him. I am convinced that will happen someday and I will be one with you as the golden rays of sunshine are one with the steadfast sun.

You gave me freedom of will to acknowledge you or not, follow you or not, love you or not. You gave me the freedom to allow you into my life, my heart, my soul.  Without this freedom I would just be a robot. If I declared I loved you, it would not be true love. True love has a choice. Such love is like an easy breeze on a warm day, like gentle snowflakes on a cold day. So, at the beginning of this new year, I proclaim my love for you.

I thank you for being with me all last year. It held surprises, of course. Among them were the many ups and downs. My dreams were dreamed and a few came true. And now I look out my window at another spectacular dawn. You have given us a new dawn how many times since you created us? Each dawn holds a promise of starting anew. You are the God of second chances. Thank you for standing by mankind no matter how bad we get. Thank you for standing by me. I know you are there and my heart bows to you in crystal gratitude.

Wings of Time

The Wings of Time

  • What was that which just flew by
  • On wings of a whisper and a sigh ~
  • The form was vague, the hues o’er cast ~
  • In to the arms of eager past?
  • Now ’tis still, it’s ceased to flee,
  • And I am amazed at what I see.
  • Hard to perceive when viewed so near ~
  • Yesterday, last week, entire year.
  • Wait!  Not yet!  Do not depart!
  • Didn’t it just recently start?
  • How can it be?  It’s out of hand.
  • Nothing worked out like I had planned.
  • No mountain I see, nor great temple.
  • The year I built was plain and simple.
  • But I reflect with kinder view ~
  • The form its shape, the colors their hue.
  • At the time I just could not see
  • The value frustrations could be to me.
  • What God and I each had in mind
  • Often differed.  What did I find?
  • I touched a life and wiped a tear,
  • I held a child and calmed a fear.
  • A word of love was passed along,
  • A happy time was framed with song.
  • So now ’tis passed, as I’ve reflected,
  • Wasn’t so bad.  And I’ve erected
  • Amidst a world of ebb and flow
  • A loving, shimmering, fleeting rainbow.

Tuesday 12/31 ~ Mind-boggling heaven

The scripture for today, December 31 (12/31), is Luke 12:31 as found in the New Testament of the Bible:

Road to Heaven-COVER-KINDLE-THUMBNAIL“But seek his kingdom and these things will be given to you as well.”

The kingdom is already here (Luke 9:27; Colossians 1:13), but heaven is not. That is the final destination of the kingdom. Do you actively seek God’s kingdom? Or do you drift and think God should feel obligated to take you into his heaven? Do you feel like you’re “not so bad”, so God would be bad to not take you into his heaven?

Heaven is God’s home, not yours. God has a door into his home, just like you have a door into your home. God is not required to open his door to just anyone, just like you are not required to open your door to just anyone.  You cannot just show up at the door and smile and assume he will let you in, any more than people who knock on our door and smile can assume you will let them in.

You let people into your home who you have gotten to know and whose motives you trust. Have you given God a chance to get to know you and trust your motives? Are your daily motives to enter heaven, God’s home? Do you even like God?

This life you live on earth is not your permanent life or residence. This is the testing place to see how you handle problems and to see how much your spiritual muscles will end up being. God has plans for Christians in heaven we do not know about. What we do know is that he is not a God of idleness.

Do you live like the earth is all there is? Do you fear hell?  Do you prefer heaven where people will worship all the time? Does that sound boring to you?

You are about to enter a brand-new year. Today, decide to start over fresh and set your new goal: To enter God’s home his way and live with him in staggering, inconceivable, absolute, profound, incredible, astounding, mind-boggling joy.  FOREVER.

My groceries

For the first time ever, I got online with my grocery store and ordered my groceries. (My mother would say, “Lazness!” in shame.) Anyway, I can go to a drive-through and they will put my groceries in the car for me while I stay in the car with the heater on. And it’s all free. (They would deliver for an extra $10.) But the earliest they will be ready is tonight at 5:00 after dark. Shiverrrr, Today’s high is only going to be 54 but it’s 3:00 in the afternoon and still 50. I don’t want to be out in that frigid weather more than I have to. I’m all hunkered down with a pot of hot coffee on a hotplate by my chair.
