“Mom,” complained Esau. “Jacob said I have to give him everything I own.”

“Is that true, Esau?” prodded their mother, Rebecca.

“Well yes, but he made me promise, or he wouldn’t share with me.”

“What did you expect?” Jacob retorted. “You said you’d die if you didn’t get any of my beans.”

“Mom, make him take it back. I was hungry.”

“Maybe some day you’ll learn your lesson,” their mother pronounced.

“Esau, you are so stupid,” his twin brother scorned as he hugged his mother and swagered way.

Peace quivered and shook in the shadows of uncertainty….
